After 25 years, Viet Uc enters a new era of growth driven by technology and data, targeting a US$1 billion enterprise valuation by 2030, refining modern corporate governance, and fostering a resilient corporate culture ready for smooth generational transition and long-term sustainability.

“To build a strong maritime nation, we must have strong enterprises. To build strong enterprises, we must master technology. And to master technology, we must invest in science, innovation, and human capital.”
Speaking at Viet Uc Group’s 25th-anniversary celebration on August 8, Mr. Vo Van Hung, Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Environment, framed the competitiveness of Vietnam’s seafood sector around a strategic imperative far beyond yield or farm acreage: the technological autonomy of Vietnamese enterprises.

After 25 years, Viet Uc enters a new phase of growth rooted in technology and data, setting its sights on a US$1 billion enterprise valuation by 2030, modernizing corporate governance, and building a strong corporate culture prepared for generational succession and sustainable development.
Strong Profit Recovery as Shrimp Seed Segment Accelerates
Viet Uc was founded in 2001 by Mr. Luong Thanh Van, an overseas Vietnamese returning from Australia with virtually no prior experience in aquaculture. The enterprise chose to start with shrimp postlarvae before expanding into broodstock, commercial farming, processing, and other key links along the value chain.
Today, Viet Uc holds an estimated 32% domestic market share in shrimp postlarvae and aims to expand this footprint to 50% over the next five years.
This strategic acceleration follows a challenging operational stretch. After recording post-tax profits exceeding VND 361 billion in 2021, the company saw earnings contract to under VND 34 billion by 2024 before mounting its current financial recovery.

Financial Rebound and Strategic Technology Expansion
By 2025, the enterprise began its strong recovery, generating net revenue of nearly VND 1,355 billion (up 5.2%) and post-tax profit of over VND 124 billion—a surging 268% increase.
This upward momentum accelerated through the first half of 2026. Net revenue rose 8.2% to VND 578.4 billion, with gross profit margin expanding from 46.7% to 55.6%. Net profit staged a complete turnaround, reversing a VND 46.5 billion loss to a VND 22.6 billion profit.
Crucially, postlarvae seed revenue reached over VND 507 billion (up ~17% year-over-year), while post-tax profit specifically from whiteleg shrimp seed reached approximately VND 110 billion (up nearly 54%).
Financially, by the end of June 2026, Viet Uc’s total assets reached nearly VND 2,450 billion, with equity at approximately VND 2,246 billion. Total debt stood at a conservative VND 78 billion, accounting for just 3.5% of total equity.
Genomics Technology as a Value Core
From a farmer’s perspective, the ultimate value of postlarvae hinges on three key factors: growth rate, survival rate, and the total cost to raise the shrimp to market size.
Viet Uc addresses this exact equation through genetic and genomic selection technology.
Unlike traditional breeding—which relies heavily on pedigree charts and multi-generational growth observations—genomics incorporates DNA-level data. This enables early-stage identification of individual genetic potential, allowing concurrent selection for fast growth, environmental adaptability, high survival, and yield density.
Following 15 years of continuous investment in its breeding program and building a database exceeding 1 million genetic records, Viet Uc officially launched its VU-S26 “Quadruple Super” postlarvae line in March 2026—tailored specifically around growth, adaptability, survival, and harvest yield.

From Seed Leadership to a Comprehensive Aquatech Ecosystem
“The ultimate value of Genomics is measured directly at the farm,” asserts Founder Luong Thanh Van. If postlarvae can reach a market size of 40 count/kg in roughly 60 days instead of 90, farmers effectively eliminate 30 days of overhead—drastically cutting costs across feed, electricity, water usage, labor, and daily farm operations.
In a global market where Vietnamese shrimp faces fierce price competition from low-cost exporters like Ecuador and India, shortening the grow-out cycle serves as a critical lever to enhance the competitiveness of the nation’s entire seafood value chain.
Genomics, however, represents just one dimension of Viet Uc’s broader evolution from an Aquafarm operator to an Aquatech pioneer.
Under its redefined strategic orientation, Viet Uc is pivoting from a traditional aquaculture producer into an integrated provider of technologies, products, services, and end-to-end industry solutions.
This transformation is anchored by six strategic pillars:
- Aquaculture Genetics
- Aquatic Seed Production
- Aquafeed
- Aquaculture Farming
- Seafood Processing
- Aqua-pharmaceuticals
In its next growth phase, the group plans to expand aggressively into aquatic vaccines, specialized probiotics, and proactive disease prevention, while scaling up the integration of Big Data analytics, AI, and modern high-tech farming systems.
This ecosystem underpins Viet Uc’s “Lead Local – Go Global” strategy. Selecting China as its entry market for international expansion, the group also plans to establish a world-class Institute of Biological and Genetic Research in the United States to connect with international scientific networks, drive advanced R&D, and commercialize proprietary technologies globally.
